Chess Online Against Computer

Ever Wanted to Play Chess Against a Computer Online?

Here is a chance to play chess online against a basic chess computer.  This computer chess program was written to run in flash, but it still gives a decent game. This is a free game, uses a 3d chess board and needs no download. Could it be the best free online chess program out there?

If you want a tougher game then try some of the other computer chess engine download links on this site. Almost any UCI chess engine from Jim Ablett’s page will give an incredibly strong game, or you could download the Crafty chess computer which is also available with its own graphical user interface.

ATTENTION

If you are experiencing difficulty loading the game and playing chess online read this.

To play chess you must both install flash and then enable it your browser.

For example, in Chrome, after flash installation click on settings -> “advanced” and scroll down to “content settings” click this and then enable flash there.

You must complete BOTH downloading flash and enabling it in your browser for the chess game to work and be visible!

If after performing both actions the game still does not appear, then hard refresh your browser cache (control-F5 on Chrome).

    i think you ought to alter the color between the dark squares and the dark pieces on the 3d board. the colors are so
    similar that it is sometimes easy to miss the queen for the king as the tops of each piece can sit in the same place as either the brown border or in front of a brown square. just change the brown tones with a wider spread of color in brown so that the pieces and board squares are not that similar.

    it would be nice to use the 3d board with 2d pieces. dark could be a nice pale blue and white could be a nice clear white. it would look very nice.

    i see i made a grammar mistake on my previous sentence. what i meant to ask was, what is the minimum number of moves a player can use to win a game?

    You can actually win a Chess game in 2 moves. You have to be Black to do it though. Whites first move is, King’s Bishop’s Pawn up 1 to f3. Black moves King’s pawn up 1 or 2. White moves King’s Knight’s pawn up 2 to g4. Black moves Queen to h4, Checkmate

    I like to play the “advanced” mode, but find that the “Thinkinking” pasted right in the middle of the chess board is a huge distraction and really makes playing tedious. Would it be possible for the creator of this site to move this to the top or to the side of the chess board.

    I like this programme, play it in advanced mode and usually win about 1 in 5 games. But how about this for a spectacular. I played black and I won the game as follows;
    1. f2-f3 e7-e5
    2. g2-g4 Qd8-h4 – Check mate!
    The game lasted 38 seconds! I think a little re-programming is required!
